Black Hawkmines Reviews Plants vs Zoombies

http://henrichfritzblack.multiply.com/video/item/10/Reviews-Online-Games-Black-Hawk-Mines

PopCap has two important announcements this week: a sequel for its most popular game and staff layoffs.

It has announced the Plants vs. Zombies 2 launch will be on the spring of 2013 and promised new stuff in the game where you combat a horde of zombies by planting stuff.

“The sequel to Plants vs. Zombies is expected to launch by late spring 2013, and will include a bevy of new features, settings, and situations, designed to delight the franchise’s tens of millions of fans around the world,” according to PopCap.

However, it did not go into details about the platforms where it will be available. It was also unconfirmed if PopCap plans to make the sequel a separate game version or be an update to the current one.

PopCap, now a division of EA has released the following statements from two of its game characters regarding the sequel’s release:

“Spring is crullest curlie ungood time, and plantz grow dull roots. So, we are meating you for brainz at yore house. No worry to skedule schedlue plan… we’re freee anytime. We’ll find you.”

“There was a time we relished a bracing, hearty blend of zombies, in the morning. But first, a brisk shower and some strategic pruning are required. Tomorrow is near!”

On the other hand, PopCap offices are not in the mood to celebrate as it was announced on the same day that some of them are going to be laid off, which surprisingly includes the creator of their flagship game himself.

Senior game designer George Fan, the brain behind the smash hit game is confirmed to be included in the job cuts in PopCap offices in Ireland and Seattle.

PopCap asserts that reorganization is a must considering the fast-changing game market and that PopCap would do well to invest in new game platforms and expand its market further in Asia.

Apparently, if PopCap did not become part of EA, the job cuts could have been worse but choosing some other rip-off over Fan might be a mistake.

Black Hawk Online Games

Self-confessed terrorist Anders Behring Breivik has been found to be addicted to computer games (spending thousands of hours playing war games) years prior to his bombing and killing on July 22.

Authorities have discovered computer logs that show Breivik has spent 8,700 hours playing war games from 2006 to 2010. In fact, records show that he played 500 hours of World of Warcraft between November 2010-April 2011 alone. Aside from playing WoW, Breivik was also into Elder Scrolls, Modern Warfare, Warhammer and Dragon Age. According to him, he spent all his time playing in the months prior to his July 22 attacks.

Breivik started playing WoW in 2006 and authorities are inclined to believe that he played the game for up to 12 hours per day in a 2-year period. It should also be noted that he used terms from the game in the ‘manifesto’ he wrote. According to Breivik, playing war games was only to hide his terrorist plans. He added that he devoted almost one year in playing games to reward himself.

Now, police are trying to investigate if Breivik has been in touch with other gamers or if he belongs to a player group through obtaining information from game manufacturers. This is because certain information show that he has been logged onto 2 computer units at the same time — Breivik might have paid others to play on behalf of him.

WoW is the most popular role-playing game in the world, boasting of over 10 million registered users (70,000 of which are in Norway). People are now anxious to know what possible factors could have affected Breivik and twisted his mindset because experts have already warned of the possible damaging effects from spending much time on playing computer games.

On Friday, the court ordered that Breivik be placed under psychiatric observation to know his mental state prior to the start of trials.

During the last part of 2011, an initial test by 2 psychiatrists reached a conclusion that Breivik is schizophrenic, which, when taken into legal context, means that he is insane. However, due to widespread outcry defying that conclusion, the court has scheduled a new assessment.

Two experts appointed by the court are set to reach a conclusion on April 10, before the trial begins on the 16th. This means that they will need to work in the prison to observe Breivik’s behavior throughout the day.

On July 22, Breivik set off a car bomb outside a building in Oslo that killed 8 and then proceeded to Utoeya island where he disguised himself as a policeman and killed 69 people attending a summer camp. He keeps on claiming that he has done all that for the sake of ‘their’ crusade against the ‘Muslim invasion’ in Europe.

Black Hawk Reviews - Online Games

Ouya, a USD 99 TV game console project using Android 4.0 has made a stunning debut on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter — hitting a million dollar mark after just 8 hours.

The game console is slated for a March 2013 release and the team behind it promise that it will offer a flexible and open gaming environment that the market wants, which will bring back the good old days of console-TV gaming. As of now, the sleek silver and black cube along with its equally cool controller are just on their prototype stage.

Ouya founder Julie Uhrman said, “It’s ironic, all the growth in gaming is moving to mobile platforms, we’re seeing a lot of AAA developers leaving their console shops to go to mobile, yet three out of every four dollars is still spent in the living room, a majority of gaming time is still spent on the TV, and if you survey any gamer they’ll tell you their No. 1 platform is the TV.”

Ouya is now the fastest project in Kickstarter to reach the million dollar threshold in just 8 hours of going live. The team has initially hoped for USD 950,000 pledges in one month for the consoles to be produced. Support for the project has been huge that as of the time of this writing, barely 3 days of being online, the amount of pledges reached USD 4 million already.

“We never anticipated that it would blow up like this,” said the Ouya founder to Black Hawk Reviews – Online Games.

Hardware specs for the Ouya console include 8Gb of storage, 1Gb of RAM and NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor which could churn out decent 3D display at 1080 pixels. They don’t sound impressive and particularly powerful when compared to PS3 or Xbox but it’s a pretty good bargain considering the price tag.

And although it runs on Android, it should not be expected to be have complete touch-based interface. Ouya will have standard wireless controller that includes 8 action buttons, a D-pad, 2 analog sticks and a touchpad for gesture-based controls.

The most appealing thing is that developers could make games for Ouya minus any publishing, retail or licensing fees that usually come with creating a game. That’s because its OS is fully rootable and every console will come with a free SDK pre-loaded on it. In fact, Ouya even welcomes hackers to tinker with the system — something that could also backfire to other consumers who might become targets of fraud.

The only condition they require is for developers to have some of the gameplay for free.

“Our only requirement is that the gamer have the opportunity to play some aspect of it for free. We don’t like the idea that you pay $60 for a game and feel cheated. We want anybody to have the opportunity to try the game,” Uhrman said.

Still, Uhrman is of the opinion that major game publishers might also come on board because their console could give them easy access to an open digital distribution environment — all without reducing their games’ values.

The console will also reportedly support game-focused video streaming service, Twitch.tv.

HMHS Britannic - The “Forgotten Sister”

The Olympic and Titanic have been built. The HMHS (His Majesty’s Hospital Ship) Britannic was the third “ wonder ship” to be built. Originally, the ship was to be named “ Gigantic ”, but due to the loss of the Titanic, her name was changed to Britannic. The White Star Line knew if they were to keep ahead in the race across the Atlantic the new liner would have to be more magnificent than her older sisters.

Due to the sinking of the Titanic, large scale alterations would have to be made to her design. She could not sink in under 3 hours. She must carry enough lifeboats to accommodate every passenger and crew member.

Black Hawk Reviews – Online Games: Kompu Gacha Games Deem Illegal

http://reviews.blackhawkmines-online.com/2012/06/18/kompu-gacha-games-deem-illegal/

Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency has decided that a system widely adopted by online game operators on SNS websites (social networking service) violates a law on sales methods.

In the said online games called complete gacha (kompu gacha), players could win a rare virtual item or a prize after he buys a specific number of items required.

The agency started the probe on the game services following complaints of extremely high payment charges on players of SNS sites like Mobage and Gree.

This gaming system was first introduced in online games by SNS last year. Kompu gacha is an advanced level of gacha where players can get rare items after collecting a specific combination of objects available in the games.

However, the gacha games have continuously been criticized for banking on the players’ gambling tendencies, especially then the specific item they will get is not known at the time of purchase, which makes it similar to a lottery.

The gacha game was supposedly inspired by vending machines that sell small toys inside capsules. But in this case, online players are buying virtual items for hundreds of yen, which they can use in the game, as opposed to physical, real ones.

Black Hawk Mining Bulletin Articles: Aus Mining Continues Growth - Topix

http://www.topix.com/forum/business/T2J217GAVIV4OI9NH
A recent survey conducted in Australia shows that although their mining sector is enjoying a boom, services sector is in an opposite condition. Most of the contraction was caused by a decline in new orders among the various players in the services sector while sales and prices also fell.

Just 2 out of 9 sub-sectors (namely, personal and recreational services andfinance and insurance) included in the survey has grown during the month. The increased activity in the mining sector is not positively affecting the remaining sectors of the local market.

The chief executive of the Australian Industry Group (AI Group) said that the contraction in the services industry just shows how narrow is its base of development in the broad market.

Several stability in financial states abroad in a period of few months will be favorable for allowing consumer and business confidence to improve, resulting in a gradual increase in spending.

More than half of the world’s mining acquisitions in 2011 has involved projects located in US, Australia and Canada. Other buyers include China, India, Russia and Brazil, all of which increased their acquisitions by 42% since 2006.

In terms of gold, the average deal is valued at USD 41 million where a premium is almost 50%. Propelling the lucrative market is Australia with 15%, United States with 14% and Canada with 49%.

Considering the bigger picture of the industry, PwC seems to be expecting that this year will see record M&A valuations and volumes in the mining sector worldwide.

According to the company, sovereign wealth funds tend to have more advantage in winning transactions because of their low cost of capital.

PwC is assuming that non-miners like sovereign wealth funds, large pension funds and private equity might reassess their approach to the industry and begin to participate more in M&A.

2012 is the year it became cool to hate the Big Day Out. That was fast. The 2008 shows sold out in about 11 furious seconds. Many remember slamming their F5 keys with a rigid index finger as soon as the clock ticked over midnight, their parent’s credit card death-gripped in their other hand. But that was Rage Against The Machine, and this is Soundgarden. And while Chris Cornell has had vocal dealings with both bands, his voice just doesn’t suit overturning cars and burning buildings and paying 160 dollars for.

Besides, rock music doesn’t make people overturn cars or burn buildings anymore anyway. Protest music is soft and gentle. Jeff Mangum (of Neutral Milk Hotel) and Tom Morello (as The Nightwatchman) both played quiet, pop-up acoustic gigs to the Occupy Wall Street protesters. They walked in, sat down, and strummed away. Big Day Out attendees from 10 years ago entered festival age amid Nirvana, the Offspring, Pearl Jam and good Metallica. Current attendees enter festival age amid Radiohead and Eminem and Skrillex. All perfectly good acts, but the Big Day Out is a rock festival, and as the romance of rock music wanes, so too must the Big Day Out.

But why the hate? Bogans? Everybody mentions the bogans. Poor bogans. They take the rap for almost everything that people used to enjoy, such as holidays to Bali, Coronas, and music festivals. We’re all us someone else’s bogan. We’ve all been an annoying douchebag, hooting like a siren and pumping our limbs with some radical fluro shades perched atop our noses. If not that, then we’ve probably been the infuriating 15-year-old twerp who knows exactly which song the band will play next “because Tom Morello just picked up his Farm the Homeless guitar, yes it’s Farm the Homeless, duh, I can read it, and he always uses his Farm the Homeless guitar when they play Bulls on Parade!!” I’ve annoyed someone at the Big Day Out, and so have you.

Advertisement: Story continues below

This year’s lineup was also a source of irk for many. Kanye West had performed at Splendour in the Grass only a few months ago. Several of the Aussie acts were from the well-worn Big Day Out recyclables list (Frenzal Rhomb, The Living End, Faker, Parkway Drive). Some couldn’t be afforded (Eminem). Some who should’ve been there were instead stuck at home with newborn babies (Jay-Z). West’s set should always have been a Watch The Throne tour piece, to the point where he began spitting a verse from the as-yet-unperformed-in-Oz album, but quickly stopped himself, explaining that he made a pact with the tour not to perform any of it solo. Alas, none of Kanye’s album guests appeared with him on stage. Nikki Minaj’s brain-snapping segment in Monster would have almost certainly brought the crowd to a stampeding orgasm, but it was never to be. Yeezy did spend a great deal of time sharing the stage with a dozen ballet dancers, all of whom moved in a classical frenzy around him as he belted out Runaway. Like his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his performance felt less like hip hop and more like universal, gigantic music. Michael Jackson 2.0 indeed.

He was also 45 minutes late, most likely because he was busy sending Noel Gallagher “sux 2 B U” text messages (though he claimed rain damaged some equipment).

Poor Gallagher’s crowd was minimal, and the former Oasis frontman seemed bored with his own music. He cheaply ended his set with Don’t Look Back in Anger.

There were many other fine performances during the day, however. Odd Future jumped around the boiler room with feral gusto, Tyler the Creator’s menacing, childlike grin fuelling the wolf gang/golf wang shrieks from the squished crowd. Calling All Cars bashed out a few thumping tunes, and Cage The Elephant delivered some nice, floppy rock.

For the most part however, rock was thoroughly thumped by all things electronic. Architecture in Helsinki gave some glorious happy-pop, Art vs Science rode their keyboards like they were the bonnets of high-speed muscle cars while dressed in silver jumpsuits, and Nero came within dangerous proximity of locating the brown note, they dropped that much bass. Das Racist delivered some smart-arsed, bonged, but enjoyable hipster-hop.

Unfortunately and expectedly, Soundgarden did not go mental. Chris Cornell didn’t really do much at all. No matter, they were a tight band, and the fans enjoyed what they saw.

Poor Tony Hawk was all but washed out, half-pipes are very quickly rendered unskatable after a few drops of rain, and several fell every half-hour or so for most of the afternoon.

Attendance was far from capacity this year. Big Day Out veterans will note with interest that the entrance to the D-barrier remained open for the duration of the day, save 10 minutes in between Soundgarden and Kanye. This would’ve been ridiculous as recent as last year, and is an ominous sign for the festival. Many punters were questioning what the show would do next year, after learning of Auckland’s axing from the tour, the departure of producer Vivian Lees, and the inconsistent headlining of the current program (Perth, Adelaide, and Auckland won’t see Kanye West at all).

All in all, for a Gold Coast Big Day Out, 2012 didn’t seem drastically different from any other in the last 15 years. That may be precisely the problem. It’s stuck in a tragic stalemate between the other festivals on the summer circuit, locked into a formula that people are tiring of. Finding a way out will be a task not easily achieved, but well worth trying. I’m not ready to runaway just yet.
